ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
A good standup host is an entertainer, friend, train conductor, cheerleader, and school principal to the audience — all rolled into one. This skill is in demand by club bookers, and it’s not the same as traditional standup.
In this 90-minute workshop, instructor Nathan Hartswick (co-owner, Vermont Comedy Club) will teach you the fundamentals of hosting a good show, including building a likable stage persona; when to do material and when to ad lib with a crowd; how to get the audience back after a comic bombs; and much more. You can't afford NOT to learn these important skills if you're serious about standup! Space is limited!
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Nathan Hartswick is a performer, educator, and the co-founder and co-owner of Vermont Comedy Club. He was a founding member of VCC’s mainstage team, The Unmentionables, performs regularly with the “Kingdom Kids,” and has studied with instructors from UCB, The Second City, and iO.
