ABOUT THE CLASS

You’ve been working hard on the fundamentals of improv: agreement, character, relationship, objective, etc. — and now it’s time to learn the secrets to identifying the funniest possible ideas at the top of a scene — and “locking in” that fun thing, so you and your team can explore and heighten the comedy together.

By getting on the same page and communicating effectively, we can build a fun, crazy world that’s a blast to play in – and invite our audiences to laugh right along with us.

You’ll not only hone your skills of identifying the juiciest possibilities in every improvised beat, but also the skills of communicating your specific ideas to your teammates (and actively accepting theirs), in order to create the most FUN scenework possible – together!

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Brian Hines is a recent transplant to Vermont from Connecticut, which apparently wasn’t cold enough for him.

Brian has taught and performed at SeaTea Comedy Theater in Hartford, CT for over 7 years. He was a member of multiple house teams and also wrote, directed, and performed in a variety of sketch shows. In addition to classes in CT, Brian trained at the Upright Citizen's Brigade theater and was accepted into their advanced study program.

Brian loves playing game in improv and is a fan of exploring relationships and the history of characters in scenes. His goal in classes and workshops is to make concepts as simple as possible. You can expect him to use non-improv terminology to help you learn this very fun, very strange art form.
